Movember: my plan to help a worthy cause

I strongly believe in paying it forward, therefore this year I have decided to help a worthy cause: Movember. For those of you who are not aware, “Movember (a portmanteau from moustache and “November”) is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities.”
This year, November is even more important or me, as I have just discovered that a person Faby and I met in August has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. For him, and for supporting the research on cancer, the 31st October I will shave my beard and grow a mo for the month of November.
Can you help me? How?

Why do I do it?

How many times have you met someone who did not have a personal story about cancer, themselves or close family members. Think about it, and then try to think “what if it happened to me, what if it happened to my loved ones”.
It sucks. Truly.
I am doing Movember because I think that a worthy cause it worth being supported.

What am I going to do?

For the month of November, I will grow a mo. I will do it to support Movember, of course. I am going to shave clean on Halloween (scary, isn’t it?) and then let my moustache grow for the entire month.

How can you help?

Simply put… DONATE! I am no scientist, I am a photographer; I don’t know how to fight cancer, but I am sure that there are people who do, and if we give them enough money, they may find a way of helping us.
Do you know why Silicon Valley is known for their successful startups? Because a ton of money have been invested, wasted and burned. I am sure that the more money we will give scientists, the more chance of success they will have.

What’s in it for you?

If you can spare ten pounds, a hundred pounds, a thousand pounds… or just one pound, you will help. A known company in the UK has the tagline “Every Little Helps”. So, apart from being a good person, which arguably could be enough, I want to sweeten the deal. Being a photographer, and not a scientist, I will take some portraits of you.
You donate to Movember, I will photograph you and send you a black and white digital portrait.
Due to obvious limitations, I will be able to photograph you if you live in London, so that we can meet somewhere in our beautiful city!

What’s in it for me?

In a word: nothing. Nothing will go in my pockets, but I am happy to shave my beard and donate my time and expertise to you.
I am not in for money, for recognition or fame. I am in for the cause.

HELP ME!!!!

How much do a Starbucks costs? Why don’t you invest the same money to help someone helping our future? DONATE TO MOVEMBER!
THANKS
